Register Now for the 2nd Annual 7 Rings of Gold Walk,
benefiting The Cure Starts Now Foundation,
Sat. March 24 at MHS
See Ms. Pendergrass if you are interested
in joining the CSA team.
Please join the Houston chapter of The Cure Starts Now Foundation, Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. at Memorial High School to stand up to pediatric brain cancers by walking, running, or strolling the MHS track seven times in loving memory of Nicole Lee.
Nicole, daughter of Althea and Henry Lee, lost a hard-fought 18-month long battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) – a rare, inoperable pediatric brain cancer that attacks the brain stem – at the age of seven. Nicole would’ve been a sophomore at MHS this year where her sister, Natalie Lee, is currently a senior. Althea and Henry, founded the Houston chapter of The Cure Starts Now Foundation whose mission is to find the homerun cure to cancer through research in pediatric brain cancer research.
Last year’s 7 Rings of Gold Walk netted $40,000 – with 97% going to fund pediatric cancer research. It’s fundraising events like this that help raise the crucial and vital money necessary to fund vital DIPG and other pediatric cancers research, which are woefully underfunded by the Federal government (around 4-7%).
Fun, Chick-Fil-A, bake sale, music, games and raffle (featuring Houston Rockets tickets and a signed George Springer World Series’ jersey) await walkers and runners! To register for this family-friendly event, please visit Individual and team registrations available. Entry fee is $25/person now through March 23; $30 for walk-ups on walk day. Questions? Please email Althea Lee at
